HSGamer and FY 2023-24

Hey gamers you all must be aware that we started in 2023 and there have been the end of one financial year for us.

I would like to share someof the highlights of what we have accomplished and where we are heading and what is our vision for FY 2024-25.

So let us start from the beggining.

HSGamer launched

In August 2023 we launched our website hsgamer.com for the gamers.

This is website where gamers can get preowned as well as new gaming instruments and accessories. Altough we launched website in August but we didnot got any sales in this month. We focused on making our website more user friendly , we finalized one design and worked on enhancing it for our Highly Skilled Gamers i.e HSGamer. We took feedback from the different users and tried to implement each of them.

Why the name HSGamer

We tought of many names for our website, I would like to name some here.

Initially we thought for certain generic names like Gamezone.com but it was already taken.

We even thought of name which had some indian touch like gamelelo.com but this was too not available.

As we were already having an business with hs gaming zone , we finally decided to keep a name something similarr to this one and hence we kept the name as HSGamer.

Where ‘HS’ stands for highly skilled.

We wanted to do something for the gamers where they can easily buy and sell the games that they have already played and hence we decided to start this platform.

Initial Challenges with HSGamer

After we finalized the name and started our website we faced certain challenges like no inventory , no sales , poor search engine optimisation.

For the first few weeks we were nowhere seen on the any search engine. We tried our beat to make some digital presence by starting up our youtube channel , instagram page , facebook page etc.

We even registered on various search engines.

We were learning digital marketing and were playing with our website configuration to learn more on the plugins and tools we can use to give user a great experience and to make things easier.

Initially we didnot had many products listed and we decided to list a few which were available in the inventory.

Poor Search Result

When we listed the products on our website there was very less visits, not even 10 per day.

We were not aware about the search engine optimisation i.e SEO.

We learned it and started implementing it.

When we started implementing it we had already listed more than 200 products amongst different categories.

We had to edit each one of them to make them SEO friendly and in 2 weeks we almlst did for each and every article.

We saw some improvement in our traffic which reached to 50 views per day which was a good result for our efforts and it boosted our morale.

We still had a great ladder to climb and our target was to get atleast daily 100 views.

But there was another challenge at our end that needed to be resolved and that was site performance.

Manybof our images were not getting loaded properly and appeared broken this could have been because of the speed boosting plugins that we were using and we had to deactivate all of them to fix this issue.

Out of stock inventory

Once we were online and had listed our products , most of them appeared to be out of stock. We had limited inventory in the starting and hence we started increading our inventory and we worked on getting games from all possible sources.

It did took some time but we had certain decent amount of itms in our inventory and most of the items started appearing available.

There are certain games that gets immediately sell as soon as they arrive in our inventory and hence they always appears to be out of stock.

Looking into this we implemented a feature to notify a user if the item becomes available in the inventory thus giving user a notification.

Shipment of products

Shipment is an important part when we are selling our products online.

Initially we had certain trasport service which use to transfer products and were charging us way more as we only had few orders.

We were incuring huge loses as many of the fake orders were too taking places and we had to pay for both return and sending of the products.

We researched for some good transport services and found out about some services which provide shipping at low cost if we have some minimum amount of orders. We took the deal and started using it.

Cash on delivery

Altough we had started our website , finalized some shipment providers,  we were still not getting any orders.

We were new and no one wanted to order from any new website. We decided to provide cash on delivery feature so that atleast user would be safe on a side to pay only when he receives the product.

This was an turning point and we got our first order. We did our best to send the product in time in best packaging and it got successfully completed and customer was well satisfied with our service.

Word of mouth reached to his peers and we got some more orders.

But world is not so simple and we got many orders where wrong address were written, wrong phone numbers were written , many people ordered just for fun and when product reached to them they didnot picked and as a result we made losses.

We had to do something about it and hence we started verifying each and every order we received by calling them that did helped but only to some extend.

We request people to stop spamming us we are trying hard to achive success and to provide good services to our customers,  hope you will understand.

Low sales

We had to deal with low sales as well. We were not sure on how to increase our sales.

Organically we at hs gamer were getting less than 5 orders in a month till October.

We decided to reasearch and find the cause of low sales on our website and methods to increase the sales.

We found that we were not promoting it enough and we didnot have payment gateway which would make us more genuine and people will trust us and buy from us.

We applied for various payment gateways but seemed like gateway playforms were not taking any new registrations because of certain Indian government guidelines.

But we came to know about the phonepe payment gateway which were accepting new users and we got one for ourselves.

It was an great achivement and we implemented phonepe gateway of hsgamer.com

We also started certain advertisement targetting indian gamers looking for gaming accessories and preowned games.

We started ads on google ads and instgram , we started uploading content on our youtube channel and facebook as well .

This really helped and we started getting orders.

Our service was loved by people and we started getting some repeated customers as well.

Where we stand today

After many tried to get the adsense approval we finnaly got that approved and we are now adsense approved site.

Today we are gettingborganic traffic of around 300 views per day and with google ads and other social media platform we have even touched a mark of 1000 daily page views.

We are getting atleast 4 orders per day for which we do our best to ship it at the earliest.

We are looking to double our traffic and sales.

We have learned from our experiences failures.

Some of failures we faced

In January we launced games for rent module which failed drastically. We promoted enough but got no success and hence decided to take it away.

We tried atleast 5 times for Adsense approval but failed each time.

We tried to add some online games that people can play and failed in that too and hence removed that.

Each failure taught us some lessons and we learned from it and tried our best to improve us.

Our vision

When we started we just had Playstation game disc and some console.

Now we have Controllers, hard drives, HDMI cables , blog about games and its news.

We are planning to start a page where gamer can diretly reach out to us to sell his games to us.

We are planning to bring on new PS5 games on our site and bring great accessories as well.

We are making plan to bring in new gaming hardware too.

Conclusion

FY 23-24 brought great ups and down for us and we were somehow able to survive it.

Its the HSGamer community that belived on us that belived on our services which helped us in surviving.

Now we belive we have climbed our first ladder and there are yet many to climb which we surely will with all your help and support.
